From 3 November, the Dresden Semperoper Ballet will present Paul Hindemith’s Theme with Four Variations as part of their evening of ballet “Labyrinth”. The ballet will employ George Balanchine’s original choreography, accompanied by the Staatskapelle Dresden and pianist Alfredo Miglionico, conducted by Nathan Fifield. Obituaries were published in more than twenty countries following the death of Hans Werner Henze in October 2012 in Dresden: an overwhelming universal expression of the international recognition of his creative works. Henze’s collegiate presence at rehearsals and premieres, and his gratitude towards the performers of his compositions have been sorely missed since.
