Description
Cast in the traditional three movement format, Huw Watkins’ Violin Concerto is a major new addition to the repertoire. It has emerged as a result of his growing collaboration with violinist Alina Ibragimova, the two first having worked together when, as a BBC New Generation Artist, she invited Watkins to write her a solo work, Partita. A concerto was the natural next step for the young, dynamic award-winning violinist and indeed this is the first concerto Ibragimova has had written especially for her.
