Description

The flow of Chi is the source of life. Everything is created and flows from the point where the two types of Chi, Yin and Yang, interact. I first composed the two high and low melodies expressing the interaction between Yin and Yang on the organ before I imagined how they would develop on various instruments of the orchestra in this concerto. The orchestra (nature and the universe) embraces the resonance of the organ (the human singing voice). After a moment of dissolution, the orchestra merges with the organ. This could be a metaphor for an embrace between a man and a woman. The work is dedicated to Christian Schmitt. Toshio Hosokawa
