Symphony No. 2

My biggest project during this strange year is the completion of my second symphony. I wrote my first symphony for the Hallé Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder in 2016 and immediately felt they understood my music instinctively and profoundly. So when I was asked if I would write a new piece for the Hallé, my answer came quickly. I am equally delighted to have the involvement of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales with whom I’ve long been associated. Having got to know both orchestras very well, I hope that this new symphony will challenge and entertain both them and their discerning audiences. Huw Watkins
