Description
The text for this short work for choir and orchestra comes from an old Christmas carol, the origin of which is unknown. Kenneth Hesketh’s setting reflects the mystical qualities of the text with flowing orchestration and luxurious harmonies. The work was first performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra during Hesketh’s tenure as Composer in the House with the orchestra and its associated ensembles from 2007-2009.
