für Streichquartett und großes Orchester
Streichquartett und großes Orchester
Edition: Performance material

Product Details

Description

Metamorphosen is based on the second movement, Andante con moto, from Schubert’s final string quartet in G major (D.887). This movement is quasi paraphrased in seven sections corresponding to the symmetrical structure of Schubert’s original score.

The work evokes the spirit of Schubert, creating a dialogue with him, both following and sometimes contradicting him. Through constant transformation (metamorphosis) of the musical material and semantic content, everything is in flux and is called into question: nothing remains as it was before. Stefan Heucke
