Kater Murr

Kater Murr

Opera piccola für Bambini(s) bis(s) Teenie(s)

Libretto von Klaus-Dieter Köhler

  • Edition: performance material
  • Language: German

Description
Since her mother’s death, Marie has lived in a boarding school. Unfortunately, her manager father is always busy and there are few opportunities to spend even a few precious moments together. Marie cries herself to sleep with her beloved cat Murr. In a dream, both go on a road trip through Germany which Marie has always longed to make with her father. When they wake up however, they get a big surprise.

Siegfried Köhler won the Landestheater Schwaben composition competition with his brilliant work Kater Murr at the age of 68. He ticks all the boxes in the genre of modern children’s theatre: catchy melodies and leitmotifs, unique narrated recitatives, a range of musical forms, witty duets containing quotations from operatic history and discreet topical references come together in a work that has thrilled audiences, musicians and critics alike.
