The Brooklyn, New York-based singer and guitarist Joey Balin has attracted attention primarily through his enormously successful work as a producer; among other things, he is responsible for the multi-platinum albums of the Swiss all-round talent Stephan Eicher, as well as for numerous productions by such illustrious artists as David Knopfler, Brings, Doro and Warlock, to name but a few. In addition to activities of this kind, Joey has also made a considerable name for himself as a band musician, for example as a member of the cult rock formation Hot Tuna.
With Simple Truths Joey Balin is now embarking on his first solo venture and with this first album is presenting an album that is second to none: Superbly produced by Neil Dorfsman (Dire Straits) and impressively realized by a squad of top-class studio musicians (above all bassist Pino Palladino), SimpIe Truths offers a wide spectrum of musical genres;including catchy tunes like „Life's not Simple Anymore", blues-heavy all-time favorites like „Have Mercy on Me", catchy song gems like „Out of My Hands" and much more.and much more. So Simple Truths brought together 30 musicians and 8 sound engineers to record in 6 top studios. The result is 15 tracks of the very finest; brilliant pop with R&B roots, almost forgotten in this concentration and class.
