Description
Grieg's 'Holberg Suite' takes up a special position in the composer's overall work: If his previous works had been characterized primarily by a close connection with his Nordic home country, he now trod completely new paths by falling back on Baroque forms.
This work is juxtaposed by the orchestral suite 'Sigurd Jorsalfar' the content of which could hardly be more Norwegian. Grieg wrote the music of the textual piece of the same name which is based on a saga of two Norwegian kings who were brothers.
