Description

Die Ordnung der Erde is based on one of the oldest poetic works, the epic poem Gilgamesh, and is structured as a dance oratorio. The composer presents a riveting and highly original interpretation of the myth. The protagonists function in double form as singers and dancers: ‘I always had a dance theatre work in mind with vocal and orchestral forces, a blend of ballet, oratorio and opera. A basic seven-note row containing all intervals between a semitone and a tritone provides the foundation of the musical material. This is a symbol of Gilgamesh as an abstract being, as the eternally searching individual per se.’ (Stefan Heucke)
