Der Mensch

Der Mensch

Ode für Alt und Orchester

Text von Friedrich Hölderlin

  • Instrumentation: alto and orchestra
  • Edition: performance material
  • Language: German
  • Order No.: LVAV 5180-01

Description
Friedrich Hölderlin’s well-known ode 'Der Mensch' ('Man') is a poetic highlight of enlightened idealism with its classical-humanist image of man. The music adapts to the text’s meaning and tonal imagery, and above all it retains loyalty to the ode form and poetic content. The composition is characterised by the intimate duet between the vocal line and various solo instruments which are embedded and enfolded in the rich polychromatic timbre of the full orchestra. Stefan Heucke
