Symphonic Escapes

for orchestra

  • Instrumentation: orchestra
  • Edition: performance material

Description
The orchestral suite Border – Symphonic Escapes refers musically and thematically to my youth opera Border, about escape and homelessness, love and violence, emotion and morals. The pulsating, melodic-rhythmic qualities of the three movement work combine European orchestral techniques with the tonal models of the Middle East, Africa and India, as well as early European monophony, to form a new idiom. The music alternates between eruptive energy and soft melodic passages, expressing the extremes of human emotion. Ludger Vollmer
