 WDR Rundfunkchor Koeln

The WDR Rundfunkchor Köln was founded in 1948. Since 2004 its principal conductor is Ruper Huber, and its chorus master Jörg Ritter. It has performed as a large chorus together with orchestra but also as a vocal ensemble composed of soloists. The repertoire covers the entire Western music tradition from medieval music to contemporary compositions, including more than a hundred world and national premières, including Arnold Schönberg, "Die Jakobsleiter"; Hans Werner Henze, "Laudes"; Karlheinz Stockhausen, "Momente"; Luigi Nono, "Il canto sospeso"; Luciano Berio, "Coro"; and Krzysztof Penderecki, "Saint Luke Passion". Its musical flexibility is demonstrated in frequent international concert tours, its own concert series, and CD releases (Luciano Berio, "Coro"; Paul Hindemith, "Cardillac"; Kurt Weill, "Der Kuhhandel"; Carl Orff, "De temporum fine comoedia"; Karlheinz Stockhausen, "Unsichtbare Chöre" and "Momente"; Krzysztof Penderecki, "Saint Luke Passion"; Bernd Alois Zimmermann, "Requiem für einen jungen Dichter"; York Höller, "Der ewige Tag"; Peter Eötvös, "Atlantis" and "IMA"; and Franco Donatoni, "In Cauda").
