Sergei Nakariakov (Flugelhorn) is often described as the “Paganini of the trumpet.” His repertoire encompasses the entire range of original literature for the instrument, including contemporary compositions. Nakariakov performed from the age of ten in the Soviet Union before his family moved to Israel and he began an international career. As a soloist, he has performed with many of the finest musicians, orchestras, and conductors in the world. In 2002, he received the ECHO Klassik Award as Instrumentalist of the Year. In 2006, Nakariakov and the Munich Chamber Orchestra premiered ad absurdum, a work written especially for him by composer Jörg Widmann. That same year, he was a member of the jury for the BBC’s “Young Musician of the Year” competition. In Japan, he appeared as a Russian trumpet player in a romantic film production, “Taiga-no iteki”, and also performed the music for the soundtrack.
