Olga  Neuwirth

Born: August 4th, 1968

Olga Neuwirth, born 1968 in Graz, Austria. Studied in San Francisco at the Conservatory of Music and Academy of Art College (painting and film), and later in Vienna at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts, including at the Institute for Electroacoustics. Major inspirations: Adriana Hölszky, Tristan Murail and Luigi Nono. Honors include portrait concerts at the Salzburg Festival (1998), the Siemens-Förderpreis and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival’s Paul-Hindemith-Preis (both 1999), and the Austrian State Prize (2010). Composer in residence at the Royal Flemish Philharmonic (2000) and the Lucerne Festival (2002). Invited participant at “documenta 12” in Kassel. Member of the Berlin Akademie der Künste since 2006 and the Munich Akademie der Künste since 2013.
