NOMOS-Quartett

About NOMOS-Quartett

The musicians of the Nomos-Quartett studied in Paris, London, and New York, among other places, and gained experience in the Ensemble Modern and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, respectively, before concentrating on quartet playing beginning in 1984. They were crucially influenced by Ramy Shevelov, the Amadeus Quartett, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and György Kurtág. Since 1988 they have cooperated a number of times with the composer Harald Weiss, such as the projects "Ade" (Staatstheater Hannover), "Reise in die Nacht - Journey into the Night" (EXPO 2000), and "Trancefusion" (sound installation for the Kunstmuseum Celle).
The Nomos-Quartett has received numerous prizes in international competitions and is now one of Europe’s leading string quartets.
