Joachim  Schaefer

Joachim Karl Schäfer is one of the leading trumpet players of his generation. He regularly impresses audiences and critics with his technical prowess, as well as his effortless, stylistic, and dynamically sensitive playing. Born in Dresden, he studied there at the Hochschule for Music "Carl Maria von Weber". His first performances took him to various festivals and concert appearances in Germany, as well as Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Japan, and the USA.
Schäfer has been the founder and leader of several ensembles. The trumpet ensemble that bears his name quickly achieved success based on the musicians’ unusual understanding of many types of music. Invitations have taken the ensemble to well-known national and international festivals and concert series. Schäfer also appears regularly with the Prussian Chamber Orchestra, the Dresdner Kapellsolisten, and the Munich Bach Orchestra, with whom he toured Japan in 2014 with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos.
Schäfer devotes himself with special care to transcriptions and arrangements of works by Handel, J. S. Bach, and others. His masterful playing is documented on numerous CDs.
