About Hermeto Pascoal

He is called 'Bruxo' [sorcerer] by his own Brazilian countrymen, not only because of his outward appearance. Hermeto Pascoal is an innovative musician and creates the most unusual sounds from bottles, stones and shoes for a kind of music which incorporates jazz, rock, experimental, popular and traditional music. Pascoal appeared at the renowned jazz festivals in Montreux and Berlin and also toured extensively. Even Gil Evans and the Berlin Philharmonic have played his compositions. In the early 90s, he briefly met Miles Davis shortly before he died. The jazz icon was most impressed by the compositions Pascoal had brought with him. The planned joint recordings, however, never took place. Unfortunately, Pascoal’s records are still difficult to get hold of. At least his musical masterpiece, "Só Nao Toca Quem Nao Quer" is an exception.
