About Guy Livingston

Guy Livingston is one of the foremost performers of George Antheil's music today. He produced the Paris Antheil Centennial Concert and was Artistic Director for the George Antheil Festival in Trenton. Livingston has been the focus of two television documentaries on Antheil, as well as appearing in the film “Bad Boy Made Good”. In 2003 he recorded a CD of “The Lost Piano Sonatas” of George Antheil (WERGO CD WER 66612). His world premiere recording of Antheil’s “Second Piano Concerto” was released in 2006. He performed the complete piano music of George Antheil at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Based in Paris, Livingston has performed as soloist with the Chicago Symphony, the Orchestre Nationale de France, and in recital at the Centre Pompidou, Théâtre du Châtelet, the IJsbreker, MuziekGebouw, The Library of Congress, The Knitting Factory, Miller Theater, Hermitage Museum, Moscow Conservatory, and Lincoln Center.

His recordings of modernist and contemporary repertoire include premieres of music by John Cage, George Antheil, and William Bolcom. Livingston’s bestselling recording (“Don’t Panic” WERGO CD WER 66492) contained sixty oneminute premieres by composers from eighteen countries, and was featured in “Le Monde”, “Gramophone”, “Diapason”, “Sports Illustrated”, “The New York Times” and on radio stations worldwide.

Livingston holds degrees with honors from Yale University, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Royal Conservatory of the Netherlands. Prizes and awards include the Gaudeamus New Music Competition, the Orléans Twentieth Century Piano Competition and the Sitges-Barcelona Concorso de Piano Segolo XX. He studied with Alexander Edelman and Claude Helffer.

Livingston co-founded and published the “Paris New Music Review” and “Paris Transatlantic Magazine“.
