About Emilio Pomàrico

Emilio Pomàrico, conductor and composer, was born in Buenos Aires in 1953 to Italian parents. He began his music studies in Milan, and later was a master student of Franco Ferrara in Siena and Sergiu Celibidache in Munich. In 1982, Po­màrico made his conducting debut with a series of concerts in Italy and South America, also working with important Italian orchestras in Turin, Rome, Palermo, and Florence, as well as the Filharmonica della Scala in Milan. Pomàrico has become a welcome guest on the conducting podium with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra as well as the radio orchestras in Hamburg, Cologne, and Baden-Baden. He has also appeared with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the radio in France.

He is regularly engaged by the most important European music festivals such as the Festival d’Automne in Paris, the Salzburg Festival, and the Donau­eschingen Festival. Important New Music groups have also worked with Pomàrico: among them, Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, ensemble recherche in Frei­burg, Ensemble Contrechamps in Geneva, Klangforum in Vienna, and Nieuw Ensemble in Amsterdam. As a composer he has also collaborated with Klang­forum in Vienna, the Asko-Schoenberg ensemble, Ensemble musikFabrik, Remix Ensemble, ensemble intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, ensemble recher­che, and Ensemble Resonanz.
