About Christoph Maria Wagner

Christoph Maria Wagner studied composition and conducting at the Hoch schule for Music in Cologne, and has taught there since 1995. Wagner’s compositions include more than 50 works in a wide variety of genres, with a particular focus on music theater and piano music, as well as an extensive group of works called remiX that “reimagines” traditional works for instruments and voices. Wagner’s work as a conductor is primarily focused on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. He has worked with composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Mauricio Kagel, Klaus Huber, and Nicolaus A. Huber, and with ensembles such as the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and Ensemble Modern. He regularly ap pears as a guest conductor with the WDR Radio Orchestra, the Bochum Sym phony, the oh Ton Ensemble Oldenburg, the Doelen Ensemble in Rotter dam, as well as at the Cologne Opera and Theater.
