About Angelika Luz

After being trained at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule (voice and piano), Angelika Luz was engaged as coloratura soprano by numerous European opera houses (such as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Zurich Opera). Her roles range from Monteverdi’s Poppea to Mozart’s Queen of the Night to contemporary musical theatre and drama. Numerous radio and CD recordings as well as appearances at all major international festivals show the singer’s turning towards contemporary music. Apart from appearances as a soloist and solo performances until 2006, she also musically worked and experimented with the chamber music ensemble Neue Vocalsolisten and sang countless world premieres in close collaboration with composers. As literary and stage director, she has created more than 40 productions, from classical opera to free scenic works of contemporary art. As a professor, she has taught the course “Master – New Music / Voice” at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule since 2007 where, since 2011, she has been in charge of the Studio for Vocal Art and New Music Theatre (www.mh-stuttgart.de/de/studios-und-ensembles/studios/studio-fuer-stimmkunst-und-neuesmusiktheater/). Angelika Luz was invited to several competitions as a jury member. She passes on her specialist knowledge in master classes all over the world.
