Description

Amber was a inspired by a sculpture of Anish Kapr. On the walls of the room three huge half-ball shaped objects were hanging with their open cavities towards the middle of the room, somewhat as three huge ears. These objects were colored with a purple-blue color which was so intense that it made the inside (cavities) of the half-ball shapes appears endless, like holes. The contrast between the presence of the huge objects, with their heavy physicality, and the endless cavities, captivated me. Amber is an attempt to create a sonic metaphor for this strange paradigm of matter and emptiness in one. Amber is monolithic and bigger than human in its dimensions, in terms of its very slow time, and in terms of its weight. It attempts to be an object, a musical object barely able to move, which gradually achieves some movement. Chaya Czernowin
