The Shepherds’ Song
• of intermediate difficulty
• For SATB and piano or organ or
• for upper voices
Available in both mixed (BH 13453) and upper (BH 13454) voices arrangements, this carol (written for the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus) sets a text written by the composer which tells the Christmas story from the perspective of the visiting shepherds. It has a Latin refrain, ‘Natus est nobis hodie Salvator’ (‘A Saviour is born today’).
The joyous music has a syncopated melody which develops from verse to verse. An exciting new piece in the Christmas repertoire, this would make a thrilling addition to any choir’s seasonal repertoire.
