• Special edition to celebrate Kapustin’s 80th birthday
• Approachable to intermediate players
• With a Preface by Masahiro Kawakami
There are few pieces in Kapustin’s oevre which are not written in his iconic virtuosic style. After being approached by a music school for children, the composer wrote this Sonata with the direction that it should be “not too difficult”.
The Sonatina is written in one movement using Kapustin’s expected jazz influence. The piece is written in the style of a simple classical sonatina, which makes it easily approachable, and sounds like a fusion of Haydn and Mozart with a jazz combo.
